Being a part-time employed, young 30 something switching careers in New Mexico, it has come to my attention (again) that I have way too much fabric, projects, books and stuff. Something constructive must be done if I wish to avoid being featured on the show Hoarders.
...Okay, it is not that bad but I do have a ton of fabric and hoarding does run in my family, so rather than continue feeling depressed about it all, it is time to challenge myself to more doing and creating, less gathering. I have had some success in past years with reading challenges on Goodreads so maybe by having this blog I can hold myself accountable, improve my skills and be inspired to do more.
I also need to get off of Pepsi and reduce my debt. To get off of soda, I am in the process of converting to drinking tea but with SOOOOO many varieties out there, finding my way will be interesting, and maybe to you as well. To reduce the debt, I am using the stack method of debt reduction (blogged about here) and putting all my Swagbucks earning toward this goal, usually an extra $50 per month.
Side Note: Swagbucks is a way to earn digital dollars, or swagbucks, for doing stuff you normally do on the internet: searching, making online purchases, watching videos, playing games and more. You get swagbucks for activities you complete through their site and then can redeem them for electronic gift cards. Most major retailers are on their site, including but not limited to, Amazon, Walmart, Target, Paypal and so forth. I mostly redeem my swagbucks for Paypal and generally make between 100 to 200 swagbucks per day. This amounts to $1-$2. Small, I'll grant you, but at the end of the month that is roughly $50. And who couldn't use and extra 50! Promotional plug: sign up through this referral and we both win - you get extra income and I get a measly 15 points (or $0.15) for signing you up.
If anybody is wondering, I am:
sewing on a Bernina 801 Sport (aka BERNIE),
serge on a Singer Model 14J334 (hand threaded) (aka SERGIO),
and use a SewPerfect dress form, unpadded (alias UNKNOWN).
Fashion fabric stores are limited here to JoAnn's and Hancock (if you can call them that) but there are a fair number of independent quilt shops that are doing well. There is one boutique fashion fabric store nearby but getting to it without a vehicle or bike is a bit tricky ...but if you are in New Mexico and need classes or to use a machine, stop by Stitchology.
Anything I left out? Feel free to comment, ask questions and the like. ...Wish me luck.
